Efficient and comfortable

With high specification insulated walls and roof, and a polished concrete floor with underfloor heating, this run-down barn became as efficient and comfortable as a new-build. The heating is provided by an air sourced heat pump and even with the dramatic vaulted ceilings it is not expensive to heat.

As with so many barn conversions we were able to create breathtaking, full height ceilings. Using careful sandblasting the antique timbers were cleaned up and treated, providing spectacular character to all the rooms. A sculptural curved staircase, along with the polished concrete floor and aluminium windows, gives the building a contemporary twist whilst still keeping the charm of the ancient building.
